Two famous Iran actresses Tehrani, Javaherian to be on US screen

Iranian film ‘Duet’ featuring famous Iran actresses Hedieh Tehrani and Negar Javaherian is set to be shown in the US.

Made based on a short film attending 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Iranian film 'Duet’ featuring famous Iran actresses Hedieh Tehrani and Negar Javaherian is set to be shown in the US.

The film directed by Navid Danesh will hit the big screen in US city of Dallas, Texas.

“Minoo drives her husband Hamed to see a woman with whom he had a common past. The reunion, however, triggers old recollections,” a movie synopsis read.

Ali Mosafa and Morteza Farshbaf are among other cast members.

The successful film project received accolades from several festivals, including the 2016 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia which granted the short first feature film award.

Tehrani is most noted for her willingness to play roles of mysterious, stony-faced and cold-hearted women, particularly in movies such as 'Like a Stranger' (1997), 'An Umbrella for Two' (2000), 'Unruled Paper' (2001), and 'Fireworks Wednesday' (2005).

She has acted in a number of movies, including 'Hemlock' (1998), 'Siavash' (1998), 'Corrupted Hands' (1998), 'The Party' (1999), 'The Times' (2001), 'A House on the Water' (2001), 'Abadan' (2002), 'Donya' (2002), 'Iranian Girl' (2002), 'A Place to Live' (2003), 'The Duel' (2003), 'A Little Kiss' (2004), 'The Magical Generation' (2006), 'Morning’s Child' (2008), 'Tehran 1500' (2008), 'Wooden Bridge' (2011), and 'Another Day' (2011).

She has also appeared in the series 'Heart of Ice' (2011).

Javaherian began her acting career on stage at the age of 15 and made her cinematic debut in 2002 with the movie ‘I’m Taraneh, 15’, directed by Rasoul Sadr Ameli.

Some of the movies in which she has performed are ‘Qadamgah’ (2004), ‘Girl’s Dormitory’ (2005), ‘Barefoot in Heaven’ (2006), ‘The Magical Generation’ (2007), ‘The Music Box’ (2008), ‘The Book of Law’ (2009), ‘Nothing’ (2010), ‘A Cube of Sugar’ (2011), ‘Without Reason or Cause’ (2012), ‘Stories’ (2012), ‘Melbourne’ (2014), ‘A Minor Leap Down’ (2015), ‘Dowry’s Sugarbowl’ (2015) and ‘Confessions of My Dangerous Mind’ (2015).

Among the series in which she has appeared are ‘That’s Not the Way’ (2004) and ‘Under the Blade’ (2007).

For her performance in ‘Gold and Copper’ (2009), she won the Best Leading Actress Crystal Simorgh from the Fajr International Film Festival.
